About Chamaedorea radicalis
Native to medium elevations, this is the northernmost occurring species of this genus. It has slender stems and leathery, dark green leaves. With its low light requirements, it does very well indoors and is a great understory palm outdoors. The branched inflorescence blooms with small yellow flowers. Small round fruit turns from green to bright red as it ripens.
Cultivation Tips
This species is the hardiest species of the genus. Plant in a location that received partial to full shade with consistent moisture. Grow in well drained soil, in a sheltered shaded position. Keep well watered in summer, but avoid overly wet conditions. This species is somewhat drought tolerant. Feed occasionally during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
