About Chamaedorea costaricana
Native to rainforests of middle elevations, this is a clustering species with thin, green, ringed stems resembling bamboo. It’s crown holds dark, glossy green, pinnate leaves. Flowers start off yellowish green and turn gradually to orangish brown. The small round fruit turns purplish black as it ripens.
Cultivation Tips
It prefers a warm, humid environment and well-draining soil. It is relatively easy to care for and is resistant to most pests and diseases. Plant in a location that receives bright, indirect light. It can tolerate cooler climates. Requires regular watering to keep the soil evenly moist, but be careful not to overwater. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. This palm prefers well-draining soil that is rich in organic matter. A potting mix specifically formulated for palms is a good choice.
