About Arenga tremula
A small clustering palm with thin stems. As it grows and new stems emerges, it takes on a bushy appearance. The crown is topped with numerous light green feather shaped leaves. This species has the same black fibrous material close to crown that other species in this genus have. The branched, erect inflorescence emerges from the crown. The small round fruit turns yellow then bright red when fully ripe.
Cultivation Tips
Select a sheltered location that receives partial sun to partial shade. Plant in rich soil with good drainage. Water regularly as this species is not drought tolerant. This species is considered monocarpic, meaning the flowering stem will die, but the other surrounding stems will continue to flourish. It has sensitive roots, so may not be ideal for replanting. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
