About Areca catechu 'Dwarf'
A dwarf version of the primary species. Not much is known about this incredibly beautiful cultivar with its short, squat appearance and extremely compact leaves. It is said to be under cultivation in parts of Asia, however, most people agree that the dwarfism does not come true from seed and it’s only through hand selection that the dwarfs are gathered, tending to make them rather expensive and extremely difficult to come by.
Cultivation Tips
Plant in a location that receives filtered sunlight. It thrives in slightly acidic, moist, well drained, loamy soil. Avoid planting in heavy clay as it lacks sufficient drainage. Provide regular watering to grow properly as it can’t withstand long periods of drought. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer.
