About Archontophoenix tuckeri
This species is found in moist tropical areas, particularly in rainforest or along streams. It is a tall, solitary palm with a slender trunk that is usually grayish-brown in color and marked with the persistent leaf bases. The trunk is topped with a lime-green crownshaft. The leaves are large, pinnate and grow up to 3-4 meters long, with numerous leaflets arranged in a graceful arching pattern. The leaflets are bright green and glossy, with pointed tips and slightly serrated margins. When it flowers, they are small and creamy-white, and are produced in large clusters that hang below the leaves. The fruits are oval-shaped, and turn bright red when ripe. It is a popular species in cultivation all over the world.
Cultivation Tips
It prefers a moist, well-draining soil and partial shade to full sun exposure. Feed regularly during the growing season with a high quality palm fertilizer. Due to its rapid growth rate, it has become a popular choice for landscaping projects.
